How a small band of misfits built a team of 70 developers, created an IDE from scratch, added two dozen plugins, and translated it into every major language. All in a year.
Padre is a Perl IDE for normal people. But what sets it apart from existing Perl editors, and most editors for other languages as well, is the speed with which it has been created. Barely year a old, Padre shows a scale, maturity and community involvement way beyond it's age.
In the first half of this talk, Adam will provide a quick demonstration of Padre and covering how a few individual developers were able to turn themselves into a team of 70 contributors, and how Padre has been made such an attractive platform to hack on.
In the second half, the audience will be taken through a rapid fire tour of all the ways in which Padre makes writing Perl faster and easier. Adam will also cover a number of the most exciting plugins for Padre, and do his best to recruit a good portion of the audience as new contributors.
